Steve Bohlen

As Chief Software Architect for the Software Development Division of Microdesk, a Technology Solution Provider to the Architecture/Engineering/Construction, Facility Management, and Manufacturing Process markets, Stephen manages the design and development of multiple large-scale integrated CAD, GIS, FM, automation, engineering, and line-of-business Enterprise software solutions for Microdesk’s clients as well as overseeing the delivery of these services using adaptive/Agile techniques. With his diverse background as a former practicing Architect, CAD Manager, Software Engineer, and IT Technologist, Stephen brings a holistic perspective to the design and delivery of Microdesk’s Enterprise Software Engineering Solutions borne from his wide-array of past expertise in various roles.

Active in the local NYC software development community, Stephen blogs regularly and is the author of several popular screencast series focused on Agile and ALT.NET concepts and technologies including the widely-praised 15-part Summer of NHibernate video series introducing viewers to the popular open-source O/RM tool and the Autumn of Agile series that takes viewers through the design, planning, and construction of an entire .NET project in an Agile context. Stephen is also a founding/organizing member of the NYC ALT.NET user group which meets monthly to discuss Agile-focused techniques and technologies in the world of Microsoft software development and beyond.

Before joining Microdesk, Stephen was a co-founder and Chief Technology Officer for an advanced digital document storage and distribution firm serving the AEC market in NYC. In that role, Stephen was responsible for designing and implementing the company’s entire business technology infrastructure including Internet-based document search and retrieval systems, web-based order fulfillment systems, and fleet management systems. Before becoming completely immersed in software development, Stephen spent years as a both a practicing architect and CAD Manager for architecture and engineering companies developing custom CAD software extensions, implementing CAD Standards, and supervising network design and implementations. Stephen holds a BS in Architecture from The Ohio State University.

Stephen Forte

Stephen Forte is the Chief Strategy Officer of Telerik, a leading vendor in .NET components. He sits on the board of several start-ups including Triton Works and is also a certified scrum master. Prior he was the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and co-founder of Corzen, Inc., a New York based provider of online market research data for Wall Street Firms. Corzen was acquired by Wanted Technologies (TXV: WAN) in 2007. Stephen is also the Microsoft Regional Director for the NY Metro region and speaks regularly at industry conferences around the world. He has written several books on application and database development including Programming SQL Server 2008 (MS Press). Prior to Corzen, Stephen served as the CTO of Zagat Survey in New York City and also was co-founder of the New York based software consulting firm The Aurora Development Group. He currently an MVP, INETA speaker and is the co-moderator and founder of the .NET Developer User Group. Stephen has an MBA from the City University of New York.

Alex Hung

Alex Hung is a senior consultant at ThoughtWorks, a global IT consultancy specializing in custom application development. He has been working in the .NET space since 2004, developed both WinForm and WebForm applications. He is also passionate about software building and deployment process. He coaches enterprises on agile development practices and is a certified ScrumMaster. Alex is the co-founder of NY Alt.NET user group.

Mark Pollack

Dr. Mark Pollack has worked extensively in the financial sector as a hands-on architect on several front office trading systems that involved a mixture of Microsoft and Java technologies. Always interested in best practices and improving the software development process, Mark became a contributor on the Spring Framework in 2003, which popularized dependency injection and Aspect-oriented programming in the Java community. He founded its .NET based counterpart, Spring for .NET, in 2004 which he continues to lead. Mark has been recognized as a MVP in Solutions Architecture and speaks frequently at user groups and conferences.

Erik Wynne Stepp

Erik Wynne Stepp is a senior consultant at ThoughtWorks, a global IT consultancy. He has a long career in developing software, including nearly a decade of developing ASP.NET applications. Erik is a certified scrum master. He has recently revived the New York WPF/Silverlight Meetup.
